The Astor Theatre Society is responsible for operating the beautiful Town Hall Arts and Cultural Centre (THACC). Housed in the historic former Liverpool Town Hall, we are now a gallery, meeting space and volunteer office. The THACC is located at 219 Main Street, and is the front of the building that also houses the Astor Theatre.
Only the downstairs of the THACC is currently fully accessible.
We have four large rooms available to rent at very reasonable rates:
The Downstairs Gallery & Bar – a large room with wooden floors and a selection of small and large tables, and padded stools. Also the location of our Special Premises licensed bar. This room is equipped with a rail and wire hanging system for art. It is suitable for meetings, small events, gatherings, presentations etc. and at 300 square feet, can accommodate 25 people.
The Gorham Room (upstairs) – a large carpeted room approximately 32′ by 22′ with 4 north facing windows letting in plenty of natural light and is the home to our Mini Grand piano. This room is suitable for performances, rehearsals, meetings, classes, music lessons and parties. At 540 square feet the Gorham Room can accommodate 45 people.
The Upper Gallery – a large carpeted room of approximately 20′ by 22′ and an adjoining door to the Gorham Room. The upstairs gallery is equipped with a hanging rail and wire system and a large glass display cabinet. There are 2 large north facing windows. This is our main art gallery, but is also used for meetings, rehearsals and clubs. At 300 Square feet the Upper Gallery can hold 25 people.
The Workshop – this is a large, bright work space with windows on two sides and no carpet. A side room houses a sink. It is 276 square feet and can hold 23 people.
Our large wooden-floored lobby is also available, and is generally used for bake sales, small gatherings and photo shoots. It is home to our box office, grand staircase with antique globe lights, and ornamental safe from the old town hall days. This space is 994 square feet and can accommodate 67 people.
We have a selection of 6′ and 8′ tables and folding chairs, as well as small bistro tables and bar tables with stools. The entire THACC is covered by wifi. We also have whiteboards and projector screens available. Our Special Premises Liquor License covers the entire building.
Also on the upper floor is our shared office space used by volunteer organizations.
And of course the theatre and stage are also available to rent by the hour, with our without technical support.
