Hours

Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Box Office is open on performance days two hours before showtime. and for evening movie showings at 6:30 p.m.

Accessibility

Please use either the front entrance on Main Street or the ramp entrance from the rear parking area, which will bring you into the front lobby area and box office.

There is also a ramp entrance and intercom located at the rear of the building, adjacent to the Royal Bank, which may be used to access the theatre directly. To gain access to the theatre use the intercom to alert the theatre staff and they will buzz you in. If you require a place for a wheelchair, please inform box office staff when purchasing your ticket(s).

PHYSICAL ACCESS

The entrance to the Astor Theatre & Arts Centre has seven steps at the front of the building. There is a ramp and automatic door located from the parking lot on Gorham Street.

There are three levels, accessible in the following ways:

stairs through the theatre
Accessible washroom
Orchestra/Main Lobby First floor Access to Orchestra seating, Box Office, Concessions, Bar, washrooms
Balcony Second floor Access to Balcony seating, washrooms
Stage Lift Access to stage and wings

Seating
Inside the auditorium, there are no steps to access the seating of the Orchestra. However, seats in the Balcony do require stairs to access. Accessible seating is located in the Orchestra. Let the Box Office staff know when booking.

Closed Captioning & Hearing Enhancement
The Astor has a number of personal closed captioning devices and hearing-impaired enhancement/visual narration devices.  Let the Box Office staff know when purchasing a movie ticket.

Sensory Friendly Saturdays
We offer Sensory Friendly Saturday movie screenings every Saturday when we are showing a movie. Sensory Friendly screenings are at 11 a.m. and show the regular movie with the volume a little lower and the house lights slightly on for people who find the traditional movie experience overwhelming. They are very relaxed screenings where moving around and making some noise are just fine.

Before you arrive

Please note that use of cameras or any other audio/video equipment is prohibited during performances.

Please note that cell phone use is also prohibited during performances. Please turn your phone to silent when entering the theatre.

Smoking is prohibited inside and immediately around the Astor Theatre. Nova Scotia law also prohibits smoking within 4 metres of entrances, windows and air intakes.

Some patrons are sensitive or allergic to various scents and perfumes. Please limit your use of scented products before arriving at the theatr

Important Information

TicketPro Online Purchases
Please note that TicketPro charges a $4 surcharge on all ticket purchases, and includes a contribution to the Astor’s capital fund. This fee is always included in the ticket price. When buying tickets through Ticketpro online, please make sure you have completed your transaction and have received a confirmation email from Ticketpro. Otherwise your purchase will be incomplete. To avoid disappointment, if you are having difficulty purchasing tickets online please call our box office at 902.354.5250 (Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and we will be glad to assist you. OR you can call Ticketpro’s toll free hotline at 1.888.311.9090

No Holds
The Astor Box Office DOES NOT put tickets on hold. The only way to ensure tickets is to purchase them.

General Admission
General admission (price) DOES NOT mean general seating (unassigned seating).

Ticket Refund/Exchange Policy
Please note that all sales are final. Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE. If an event is cancelled, you will be advised by email or by phone on how to get a refund or use the tickets for the rescheduled event date. Refunds cannot be made once the ticket has been purchased. Tickets will be accepted for resale prior to the performance, and if a purchaser is found, the ticket price will be refunded. In the event of a show cancellation, refunds will be made available. Tickets can only be exchanged for a different performance of the same show. Exchanges will be accepted until 24 hours prior to the first performance.
