Award-winning, platinum-selling musician Sarah Harmer makes a much-anticipated return to the stage in support of her 2020 album, Are You Gone.
Harmer’s sixth album and first in a decade, Are You Gone is a deeply personal and political collection of songs motivated by the beauty of life, the urgency of the climate crisis, and the question of loss. She calls it a spiritual successor of sorts to her acclaimed 2000 debut, You Were Here, which TIME called the year’s best debut album. Nearly 20 years after that release, Are You Gone brought a close to Harmer’s period of musical quietude with a rousing artistic statement, rich in detail and emotion, from the heart and for the spirit.
Harmer has been nominated for the Polaris Music Prize, garnered two JUNO Awards, and been widely praised for her “razor-sharp songwriting chops” (NPR Music) and “plainly hooky” melodic sensibility (Rolling Stone).
The world’s most authentic tribute to Supertramp with vocal similarity to Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies. An incredible band featuring live clarinet, sax, flute, and vintage keyboards (Wurlitzer). A spectacular show that features costume changes and a memorable performance of the album ‘Crime of the Century’ in its entirety, plus all of Supertramp’s biggest hits. A world-class performance that has received standing ovations for all of their theatre shows across North America. A concert not-to-be-missed.
The Songs of Johnny & June celebrates the lives and songs of country music’s most iconic couple, Johnny Cash & June Carter, from their first meeting to their final days. Created by Jacob Hemphill with music direction by Melissa MacKenzie, this biographical concert features the powerhouse PEI duo accompanied by a rockstar band. Our very own “Tennessee Three” features Island superstars Logan Richard (lead guitar), Josh Langille (drums), and Sam Langille (bass). These three are known for their sizzling solos, kick-ass grooves, and phenomenal showmanship.
Show-goers can expect the renowned country songs they know and love, intertwined with stories they may have never heard. The Songs of Johnny & June will take the audience on a journey of the complicated relationship between these two legends of country music.
THE STAMPEDERS ~ IN CONCERT
CELEBRATING 50 YEARS
‘They’re on their way, to the city lights’ … and, THE predominant Canadian Rock ‘n’ Roll band of the 1970s – The Stampeders – are bringing along all their classic hits: Wild Eyes, Carry Me, Oh My Lady, Devil You, Monday Morning Choo Choo, Minstrel Gypsy, Hit the Road Jack and, of course, the quintessential Canadian – and Hall of Fame – song, Sweet City Woman! A veritable soundtrack to a whole generation that will ‘carry you home’ … maybe not to Birmingham … but back to a time of tie-dyed t-shirts and elevator shoes, 15¢ coffee and homemade apple pie, dating and dreaming … By the time The Stampeders get to the first chorus of the first song, everyone will be singing along.
No seventies group represented Canada’s musical identity to the world like The Stampeders. A quick look at Canada’s music scene from 1971 until 1976 confirms The Stampeders were truly the country’s international musical ambassadors, touring more extensively in Canada and overseas than any other Canadian group during that time. In 1977 the trio: Rich Dodson (lead guitar), Kim Berly (drums) and Ronnie King (bass) parted company but reunited, fittingly at the Calgary Stampede, 15 years later in 1992. Since then they’ve been recognized by SOCAN for their Lifetime Achievement, been inducted into the SOCAN Songwriters Hall of Fame on five occasions and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame for their 1971 seminal hit Sweet City Woman.
The enduring musical legacy of The Stampeders, celebrating 50 years… ‘better catch a noon train, better get there for a rock ‘n’ rolling good time!’

Canadian Celtic-rock group Rawlins Cross are a legendary East Coast act. Since forming in the late 80s, the band has been fusing Celtic traditional music with rock, pop and worldbeat music. With 11 commercial recordings to their credit, including the gold-selling Reel ‘n’ Roll (1993), the band has earned multiple JUNO nominations and won nine East Coast Music Awards. Over the years, Rawlins Cross has toured extensively on three continents including a performance representing Canada at the Summit of the Americas in Santiago, Chile and a nationally-televised Canada Day performance on Parliament Hill in Ottawa and a command performance for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. The band is equally at ease with a soulful Highland Air (“MacPherson’s Lament“) or a raucous party song (“Colleen“, “Wild Rose“, “Reel ‘n’ Roll“) captivating their faithful fans. Rawlins Cross is hitting stages once again to promote their latest release, Sunrise (2022).
On Sunday 30th October they will be back at The Astor!
With ‘In Praise of the Ostrich’ Derek Edwards moseys back into town on horse-drawn comedy wagon; a searing meander down life’s twisting trails, steered effortfully by this 30-year veteran. He returns with a payload of blissfully funny personal stories – a cacophony of shenanigans – set to tickle the ribs and warm the heart.
With an easy conversational style, Derek reluctantly pulls his head out of the sand and launches into commentary on the influx of pot stores, self-driving cars, gambling tips, the challenge of staying youthful … plus dressing warm.
From Vegas to St. John’s, this Just For Laughs veteran is universally considered to be among the comic elite. Certainly his peers think so, as evidenced by the fact that he’s a four-time nominee, and winner of Best Standup Comic – Canadian Comedy Awards, as well as a multiple Gemini nominee for Best Performance in a Comedy. As Rick Mercer says, “Everyone knows Derek is the funniest man in Canada.”
Clearly the critics agree: “5 STARS – the funniest man on earth” – Winnipeg Free Press; “4 STARS – the crowd howled” – Victoria Times Colonist; “still the funniest man in Canada” – Toronto Sun; “Edwards reigns as the King of Canadian comedy” – Charlottetown Guardian; “Derek Edwards is hysterical” – Calgary Sun; “Edwards takes stand-up to next stage” – Georgia Straight; “the epitome of timing & storytelling” – Halifax Chronicle Herald; “the comedian’s comedian” – London Free Press.
‘In Praise of the Ostrich’ – Derek Edwards’ new 90-minute stand-up comedy show …a richly textured and enthralling ‘cut above,’ delivered with pace and authority by the consummate Canadian Comedian. Down to earth, lots of laughs, wagons ho.
