Lauren Inglis is a grade 12 student at Liverpool Regional High School. At a young age, Lauren discovered a love for music. She took off on a journey of studying piano, trombone and singing! Lauren realized her deep passion for trombone/piano playing and began developing extraordinary skills through The Royal Conservatory of Canada. From 2017-2019 she was the piano accompanist for Queens County Vocal Troupe, where she spent hours in the theatre preparing kids for musical theatre productions. She accompanied an entire MTI Broadway Production with this troupe, mastering the piano accompaniment of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into The Woods Jr”. She was accepted and is an active trombone player in The Nova Scotia Youth Wind Ensemble in 2017 and The Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra in 2019! Lauren is pursuing a career in Music Education at Acadia University this coming fall! She loves drawing and writing in her spare time.

Ashley-Rose Goodwin spends her days balancing the life of motherhood alongside her deep passions for music and theatre. She began performing theatrically and studying piano in the early 90s. Theatre has always been a second home to Ashley, so she decided to pursue a Theatre Studies Degree shortly after completing high school. Motherhood stepped in and took over in 2006, so Ashley dedicated her life to raising her boys, working on exams for piano through The Royal Conservatory of Canada and diving heavily into community theatre. She opened a private studio focusing on piano training and theatrical performance for youth in 2010. In 2017 she established Queens County Vocal Troupe, a musical theatre group for youth focused on building self-confidence, vocal skills and performance training. 2019 rolled around, and Ashley felt ready to return to Dalhousie and complete her Theatre Studies Program. Since returning, she has been placed on The Dean’s List and has successfully entered the Music Department, where she has trained vocally for the past year. You will find Ashley enjoying nature in her spare time, reading, playing outside with her kids or writing. Ashley is excited to share her vocal repertoire that she has studied this past year & is thrilled to share the stage once again with Lauren!

Ron James – Spring Loaded – live from his living room to yours!

A global pandemic may have scuttled live performance the wide world over but that can’t stop Canada’s #1 touring comedian (‘a hilarious brand of funny all his own’ Winnipeg Free Press) from doing what he does best…making sense of life’s struggles in the language of laughs! That’s why award-winning comedian RON JAMES (‘cleverly, hysterically funny’/Toronto Star) will be launching ‘SPRING LOADED’, his third one-hour comedy special, in the ‘Live from My Living Room’ series.

Date: Sunday, March 21, 2021
Time: 8:00pm EDT (please login to Zoom by 7:40 PM)
Where: Watch together on Zoom. No masks required!
Price $30.00 (Includes taxes and ticket processing fees) at

SPRING LOADED’ assumes people aren’t sure if these days are the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning… and Ron couldn’t agree more…

On New Year’s Eve, 3500 paying customers watched Ron stream his second hour length special ‘HINDSIGHT IS 2020: Live from My Living Room’, which experienced an exponential growth of 872% from his premiere performance in June ’20! His critically acclaimed record breaking nine one-hour comedy specials (‘a virtuoso comedic performance’/Globe and Mail) became a New Year’s Eve viewing tradition for Canadians that consistently cracked 1.3 million viewers.

Just because his cross Canada tours took a pandemic delivered torpedo to the bow doesn’t mean this stand ups funny is sunk! As it turns out, the man whose non-stop roller coaster ride of marathon laughs that had been filling theatres to capacity for more than twenty years, still has his mojo workin’! With his first book scheduled to be released Fall 2021 by publishing giant Penguin-Random House, this one-man industry the Victoria Times Colonist called ‘The funniest man in Canada’ shows no sign of slowing down.

Breath of Fresh Air Youth Theatre Group returns to the Astor stage with Goodbye Kurt Cobain

We are delighted to welcome our local youth theatre group back to the Astor with a play written and directed by Kallie Koliotassis. Two plays, in fact!

The first, titled The One is a spooky tale performed by the younger members of the group:

A group of friends end up at a haunted house, in a room that may or may not actually exist, where they’re faced with a decision that could doom one of them… or all of them.

And the second, Goodbye Kurt Cobain, is sure to bring back memories for many of us:

In 1994, a few weeks after Kurt Cobain’s death, a group of friends decide to meet in the woods to have a little fun. Their buddy Shaun has taken the death of his icon pretty hard, and needs a little cheering up. Over the course of the evening they reflect on the good times they’ve shared, and come to terms with the fact that some things cannot last. Does the end of Kurt Cobain mark the end of their time together?

Tickets ($15 Adults, $10 students) are on sale now at the Astor box office (Tuesday – Friday 10 – 4), in person or over the phone, or online through Ticketpro:

When buying tickets, please consider that we are limited to only 100 audience members, and that seating has been grouped into small bubbles. Please try to only buy in the appropriate bubble size for your group – if you don’t see what you’re looking for please give us a call.
