Aerialists @ The Astor Theatre
Mar 1 @ 7:30 pm

Appearing on The Astor stage for the first time, we are eager to welcome Aerialists!

This Canadian prog-trad quintet alchemizes Scottish, Irish, and Nordic folk traditions and post rock influences into a sound with striking clarity. It’s ethereal yet precise, technical yet visceral. Aerialists emerged from the new acoustic scene at Berklee College of Music nearly a decade ago, born from the creative affinity between harpist Màiri Chaimbeul, fiddler Elise Boeur, and guitarist Adam Iredale-Gray. Now with three albums, a JUNO nomination, and a Canadian Folk Music Award under their belt, Aerialists have staked their claim on the leading edge of the neo-folk world.

The Frogs – A March Break Theatre Camp Production @ Astor Theatre
Mar 14 @ 7:00 pm

Our campers have worked very hard this week to bring to you “The Frogs” 🐸🐸🐸

Written in 450 BC, Frogs tells the tale of the Greek empire in crisis. The quality of ‘art’ is falling rapidly, so Dionysus (The god of good times!) and slave Xanthias venture out to Heracles’s house to get directions to Hades (The underworld), with a plan to try and convince Pluto to allow the best writer to come back to earth and save literature from the perils of mediocrity.

The campers are acting, singing and dancing as well as creating their own masks and the set for this epic production.

Come support youth in theatre and be delighted by their performances.

“The Frogs” is FREE to attend!

We will be collecting donations at the door for the Astor to help us continue to offer affordable programming for youth through the Astor Academy.

Aysanabee – Now and Then Tour @ The Astor Theatre
Mar 15 @ 7:30 pm

Appearing at The Astor for the first time, we are thrilled to be presenting Aysanabee to our audience.

Join two-time JUNO Award-winning Oji-Cree artist Aysanabee (Ace-in-abbey) on his first-ever Canadian headlining tour, Now and Then. After supporting Allison Russell and Dan Mangan on tour and performing at global festivals, Aysanabee now takes center stage to share his music (including hit singles “Nomads” and “Somebody Else”) and storytelling.

The alternative indie artist, of Sucker Clan from the Sandy Lake First Nation, a remote fly-in community in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, now calls Toronto home. He began making music under his mother’s maiden name, creating work that reflects his personal journey. In March 2024, he became the first Indigenous artist to win JUNO Awards for Alternative Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year for his EP Here and Now (Oct 2023). His debut album, Watin (Nov 2022), named after his grandfather, combined music and journalism with artistry and expression and was shortlisted for the 2023 Polaris Music Prize.

Since 2021, he has performed over 300 shows across Canada and globally, including recent appearances at Reeperbahn (DE), The Great Escape (UK), SXSW Sydney (AUS), Tallinn Music Week (ES), and AmericanaFestUK (GB).
