The Last Showgirl, a poignant film of resilience, rhinestones and feathers, stars Pamela Anderson as Shelly, a glamorous showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. Directed by Gia Coppola, The Last Showgirl co-stars Oscar®️, SAG®️ Award and Golden Globe®️ winner Jamie Lee Curtis, as Shelley’s best friend, who brings her own unique interpretation and brilliance to the story, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka and Billie Lourd. Written by Kate Gersten, the film is produced by Natalie Farrey and Robert Schwartzman and features a new original song “Beautiful That Way,” sung by pop superstar Miley Cyrus, produced by Academy Award nominee Andrew Wyatt and written by Wyatt, Cyrus and Lykke Li

When conservative, Texas church choir director Maybelline (Weaver) inherits her recently deceased son’s drag club, she surprises her closed-minded husband and everyone else she knows by moving alone to San Francisco to save the club from bankruptcy. In this raucous, vibrant environment, she begins to open up and find new meaning for her life, even becoming a mother figure to the club’s flamboyant performers – until a surprise visit threatens to upend her new life.

We’re celebrating this year’s Canadian Film Day with Lunenburg County Film Series by screening Bergers (Shepherds) – FREE ADMISSION – here at The Astor Theatre.  Join us Wednesday, April 16th at 4 pm or 7 pm.

Mathyas trades in his Montreal life as a young advertising executive to become a shepherd in the South of France. But the harsh realities of the pastoral world force him to question his romantic vision of the profession. A visit from Elise, a civil servant who has abruptly quit her job, gives Mathyas’ quest a new direction. Together, with a herd in their care, they embark on a journey towards a new way of life in the mountains.
