Ian Thomas…Not Gone Yet! @ The Astor Theatre

IAN THOMAS … NOT GONE YET!

Full Band Tour

Ian Thomas is “the complete entertainment experience!” He is a film-composer with 22 feature films to his credit; an author; an actor, much sought after as a voice-over artist and recognized for roles such as Dougie Franklin on the Red Green Show… and, of course, a Juno-award-winning Singer-Songwriter whose songs helped form the bedrock of the Canadian musical landscape, a contribution recognized by SOCAN when Ian was honoured with a National Achievement Award for Songwriting.

Ian Thomas first garnered major radio airplay in1973 with the top-40 single Painted Ladies, followed by a string of hits throughout the 70s and 80s, and on into the 90s with his band The Boomers. Whether performed by him or covered by artists including Santana, Chicago, Manfred Mann, America, Bon Jovi and Bette Midler, Ian’s many hits continually achieved heavy rotation on radio across Canada and around the world … recordings such as Come The Sun, Long Long Way, Right Before Your Eyes, Coming Home, Pilot, Hold On, Time Is The Keeper, Liars, Wishes, The Runner, Levity, Back To Square One, Love Ya Too Much, You Gotta Know, One Little Word, Dirty Love, To Comfort You, and of course, Painted Ladies. In the new millennium, Ian joined fellow singer-songwriters Murray McLauchlan, Marc Jordan and Cindy Church to form Lunch At Allen’s, touring coast to coast for the past two decades, and now with five albums to their credit.

Of his art, Ian says: “The song remains the most satisfying creative experience for me. Songs are interactive and, with over 50 years of writing, I have spent many hours with each one and they with me. When I listen to one of my old albums, I remember where I was and the people I made them with, some living, some now dead.  I think about who I am, who I used to be, and who I thought I was. These albums are like flags stuck in the road behind me that wind back, into the past, almost out of view.”

Ian Thomas, with his stellar 4-piece band, brings past to present recreating the original sound of all the hits … 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond. Ian Thomas … Not Gone Yet!

21 Gun Salute: WE SALUTE YOU – AC/DC Tribute @ The Astor Theatre Liverpool
Apr 27 @ 7:30 pm

21 GUN SALUTE is undoubtedly one of the premiere AC/DC reviews ever assembled. The band pays true homage to AC/DC’s high voltage rock n roll. From the Bon Scott raw rock’n’roll early years, to the band’s evolution throughout their thirty-year tenure with Brian Johnson.

Every detail has been painstakingly reproduced, from the Smoking Cannons & the Hell’s Bell stage props to Angus’s school boy outfit. An explosive show that includes the signature live antics and lead singer’s absolute dead-on vocal rendition of both Bon Scott to Brian Johnson.

Lead vocals that belt out the high notes effortlessly whilst strutting the stage the AC/DC trademark style. This act is a must-see show performed by experienced true professionals, who are down to earth blokes.

**Movie** 500 Days in the Wild @ The Astor Theatre
May 8 @ 2:30 pm

Showtimes: Wednesday May 8th, 2:30pm & 7pm  |  Thursday May 9th, 2:30pm only

500 Days in the Wild is a feature documentary that weaves intimate moments of reflection with adventure and stories of the people and communities that she encountered along the way.

Award-winning director and cinematographer Dianne Whelan is the only person to complete this epic journey of discovery—hiking, biking, paddling, snowshoeing and skiing across the country.

For a woman in her 50s who is not an extreme athlete, it was sometimes gruelling, occasionally harrowing, often exhilarating and always surprising. She started out alone, disillusioned with the state of the world and worried about climate change, to look for different ways of caring for the land and each other. She ended the journey a bit wiser, more hopeful, in love and with a passion to share this story.

The Alan Jackson Experience @ The Astor Theatre
May 18 @ 7:30 pm

Is there really ever “Too Much Of A Good Thing”?

We don’t think so! Especially when it comes to the music of a once in a generation Singer-Songwriter like Country Music Icon Alan Jackson.

Following a storied career that netted him over 40 #1 hits and so many more top 10 singles and albums why wouldn’t someone want to pay tribute to a person like that.

Enter Aaron Halliday, he recognized early on in his own career that Alan had something special happening, and having covered so many of Alan’s songs early, when Alan started releasing music, made for an easy transition to a full blown Tribute to someone he already admired.

Now fast forward 30 years and unfortunately Alan has announced that he will no longer be touring due to his ongoing health issues. That just increased the pressure to perform a Tribute that Alan would be proud of and keep the “True Country Music” going strong.
