3 hours – max. 6

Each participant will make two pieces – one Suncatcher and one coaster/tile and learn about the history of glass and see many examples of stained glass and see many examples of stained, fused and casted glass.

History of glass – what is glass made of? Is there natural glass? How do we join glass pieces? What is kiln carving?

Activity: Cut, grind and foil stained glass pieces and participate in soldering together.

Activity: Cut fire-proof paper into multi-layered maple leaf, animal, or fish…

Both items are fired at SAS Glass and returned to the Astor the next day for pickup by parents or students.
