Night Light Fusing Glass Workshop (8 – 10 years)
219 Main Street
Liverpool
Registration required, at the Astor box office (11am – 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday). (902) 354-5250 or boxoffice@astortheatre.ns.ca
Workshops are run by Scot Slessor of SAS Glass, Liverpool
Each student will select pieces of glass to make a fusing design (pieces will be ground in advance so they are not sharp). Participants learn about the history of glass and see many examples of stained, fused and casted glass. They will have the opportunity to cut glass.
History of glass – What is glass made of? Is there natural glass? How do we join glass pieces? What is fusing glass?
Activity: pick out glass pieces to make a design (boat, sun or abstract) and glue pieces in place for fusing.
Pieces will be fused overnight and returned to the Astor for students/parents to pick up the next day.
