The Town Hall Arts & Cultural Centre is pleased to present the captivating work of Timothy Gillespie throughout the month of October in his solo show, FROM THE SOUTH COAST – recent work from Timothy Gillespie.
Timothy Gillespie is a Winnipeg native who operates South Coast Studio, where he works in small and large metal pieces, sculpted whale tails and canvas wall pieces, plus mixed media wall sculptures featuring a variety of cellulose iterations and featuring industrial elements.
In 1999, Gillespie opened the Folk, Fine & Funky Gallery at Sable River and in 2001, The Waterfront Gallery in nearby Shelburne, both of which featured exclusively work by Nova Scotia artists. He co-founded the Shelburne County Arts Council and Osprey Arts Centre and was appointed by the Premier as the inaugural chair of the Nova Scotia Arts Partnership Council. For five years, he produced the popular Waterfront Jazz Festival and later produced the Friday Night Hootenanny series for five years, both on Shelburne’s waterfront.
Gillespie’s work has been shown in solo and group shows in California, Toronto and Nova Scotia and will see its web debut in late October.
FROM THE SOUTH COAST opens on Wednesday October 4th at 11am and closes on Saturday October 28th at 4pm. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 4pm each day.
An opening reception will be held on Thursday October 5th from 6pm to 8pm. All are welcome! Please come along and meet the artist.
