The Creator of the Hampsterdance…
Deidre LaCarte aka Delchinii started out as a potter/sculptor at Vancouver Island University in 1998, where she also created the Hampsterdance.
A car accident, with hand injuries, changed the direction of her art to abstract paintings. Using a limited palate the acrylic paint is applied randomly. Then intuitive pareidolia happens with acrylic paint markers.
Faces, landscapes, small pictures with the larger pieces that tell their own story.
We are excited to have Delchinii as our Artist in Residence from June 5th to June 14th and her show will be on display in The Astor Gallery from June 5th to 28th.
