Art shows happening in September
Opening on September 2nd we have a retrospective show with local icon Janet Stewart. Over the years, Janet has amassed an impressive body of work, and until very recently continued to practice. We thought it was time some of her work was brought together to be viewed in one place. Join us in the downstairs gallery from September 2nd to 16th to celebrate the contribution that Janet has made to our arts community.
Also opening on September 2nd in the upstairs gallery we have a delightful show called Beloved Gloves from Chester’s Fran Ornstein. Fran is a retired Creative Director and her work is displayed across Nova Scotia and beyond. For this series of paintings, Fran collected gloves from people she knew, and transformed them into oil paintings. The stories that came with the gloves are a big part of this show and give a real sense of connection to their owners. This is one that should not be missed, and it’s on display in the upstairs gallery from September 2nd to the 30th. We will be having an evening viewing on Thursday 2nd September for both of these shows, 6-8pm, so please join us.
And finally, we will be filling the downstairs gallery with the creative works of Bruce Herrington. A retired graphic designer, Bruce has a very unique style. Lately he’s been spending his time combining his impressive paintings skills with a precision saw to create these unusual cut out animal paintings. Well worth coming to see – they will be on display in the downstairs gallery from September 17th to the 30th.
